For the single woman who is waiting, for the woman who just can’t seem to settle down, for the woman who finds herself more lonely after each failed relationship, for the woman who feels like she is destined to be a cat lady. This is for you.
Let’s start here. There is no man that can ever fulfill you. Ever. Without God being the Center.
Now you’re about to close the book, go on Instagram, take a shower, watch tv.. I know. It sucks to hear! Our hearts so long for our soulmate, our divine lover. And guess what, the Lord gave us that longing!
I know that feeling, too. Why would He do that when He knows we have to wait.. that’s just mean and unfair. Thanks a lot, God.
If I could go back a few months, a few years ago, I’d tell myself to not worry about boys. I’d tell myself that I didn’t have the right mindset. that My perspective was off.. by a long shot.
I’m 17 years old, and I desperately long to be with my future husband. This is me.
But as I look at the boys in my school, at my church.. I realize that very few even come close to what God has in store for me.
These boys would not fight for me like He would.
I urge you, young women, to grab ahold of Him. Pursue Him fearlessly as if He is your knight in shining armor.
I cannot tell you enough that God is so much more fulfilling than a man. Your father longs for you to step into your calling and to pursue him deeply and fiercely. He longs to stand by you and help you prevail.
You see, the issue with today’s world is that society paints this magical picture of a man sweeping you off your feet. A man thinking about you all the time. A man standing up for you when your esteem is compromised. And all of those are great and gushy, but what does that say to a woman of God?
“When my man comes, I’ll be complete.”
“Why my man comes, I’ll feel better about myself.”
“I won’t have a longing after he’s here.”
Women, let me tell you something.
Pardon my grammatically incorrect language but, there ain’t no man that can swoon you like our Heavenly Lover can. He’s the best romancer, warrior, protector, defender, savior, counselor, I could go on and on!! There is no one, no man, like Our God!
You are complete in Him.
You do not need a man to make a difference.
The biggest lie Satan can tell a single woman is that she is not living fully when she is single.
The devil is good at telling women that they are not living in God’s purpose when they are single.
That is not what God says, ladies.
When Ruth decided to follow Naomi, do you think she knew that God was going to give her Boaz? No. But she followed in His will, regardless of what it meant.
When Rahab (who was a prostitute) chose to risk her life to help save two spies sent by Joshua in Jericho, do you think she prayed before then saying “but God, I need a man to do this!”
Ladies, you are useful now in your waiting.
Before we could ever be able to fulfill a man like a woman should and before he could ever fulfill us, we have to learn where our confidence, our hope, our security, comes from.
I’m right where you are. I’m preaching to myself, too.
So before you seek for a man, examine your heart.. better yet, let the Lord examine your heart. He will give you the desires of your heart if you allow Him to fill the empty void. You see, that empty place in your heart is not meant for alcohol, not drugs, not a man’s affection, not even romance novels or movies. Even the things that aren’t necessarily bad, can poison you when they are used to fill a void only He can fill.
In Philippians 4:9 it says, “my (your) God will supply every need according to His riches in glory in Jesus Christ.”
It goes on to say, “I have learned in whatever situation, I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty of hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”
I am to be content.
Dang. Punch to the gut, right?
But, this means that the Lord promises to fulfill us in our waiting. No matter if the waiting is 10 days or 10 years.. it sucks, but with God, it’s worth it.
And you’re worth it!!! Every diamond in the world couldn’t compare to your beauty because “you are fearfully and wonderfully made” by the best artist Himself. (Psalm 139:14) With or without a guy, you are useful. You are a life-changer. You are a world-stopper. But best of all, you are His.
(dedicated to my girl, Whitney, for being one of the most lovely role models I have)
